Sometimes, parents-to-be are quite insecure what items they need to purchase for their offspring. In order to get some ideas what might be necessary, please have a look at the following newborn checklist. As quite a few things are required, especially when parents are expecting their first child, it is recommended to also have a look in second-hand shops or to go to flea markets where almost brand-new items can be found for a fraction of the original price.
In the following, you will find a newborn checklist with the items you should purchase or borrow:
- Four to six cotton bodies in size 56 as well as in 62 (if your baby will be born in the colder time of the year, bodies with long arms are recommended)
- Four to six cotton items of outer clothing in size 56 as well as in 62 (warmer materials should be used if your babies will be born in the colder time of the year)
- Three to four one-piece cotton pyjamas in size 56 as well as in 62
- A well-sprung push carrier which should not be too small
- A child seat suitable for the age of the baby
- A sling or another baby carrier
- A changing table with a wipeable pad
- A cradle, a basket or a bed including mattress, blanket and sheets or a sleeping bag
- A diaper bin and a thermometer for the bath
- A cupboard or some shelves for the baby clothes
As there are so many baby items on the market, this newborn checklist is only meant to give you a rough idea about the most necessary newborn items and it does not include the most obvious items like diapers, nursing products, bottles, a bottle sterilizer, etc.
