If you would like to get some information about "newborns bowel movements", please read the following paragraphs.
Children, and especially newborns, are a lot more sensitive than adults in every aspect which should always be taken into consideration. The activities of a newborn only consist of eating and excreting which have to be carefully observed when nursing the baby.
The intestines of the newborn have to get used to their task after the birth, as they remained inactive during the pregnancy. That is why the newborns excrete the so-called meconium which is a greenish black mass consisting of hairs, dead cells and intestinal secretion within the first days after birth. It is not a digestive product, but only what has been accumulated in the intestines during the pregnancy which can be hairs which were swallowed by the embryo together with the amniotic fluid.
The stool which is produced until the 4th or 5th day are very light, then the intestines prepare themselves for digesting the mother's milk.
The stools from the mother's milk can optimally be digested from the intestines of the baby. They have the consistency of a paste and are golden to green-yellowish. At the beginning of the lactation period, the newborns excrete stools five to six times a day. Here, the sucking on the breast can often trigger off the newborns bowel movements. From the forth month on, the bowel movements can be reduced to 3 to 4 times a week which does not necessarily mean that the baby suffers from constipation.
The sensitive skin of the baby can be irritated by stool and urine which can cause a diaper dermatitis which consists of red areas in the genital area which can be accompanied by swellings, blisters or flakes. Sometimes, these inflammations can become bigger. In this case, the most important thing is to keep the irritated areas dry and to change the diapers quite often. Tight diapers are to be avoided. The baby's skin should be washed with warm, soap-free water and cleaned with cotton pads soaked in baby oil.
