The baby now has nails on the fingers and toes.
Your uterus is now the size of a grapefruit, during pregnancy the uterus will increase 20 times its weight and 14 times its length.

Now the hormone revolution is under control so you'll feel better.
The baby can suck its fingers and grab the umbilical cord. The sexual organs are maturing. The baby is getting nicer, now has hair, eye brows and eye lashes. The bones grow every day more and more.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 16:

In just two weeks the baby can be almost double size, up to 16 cm. In a precise ultrasound test it's possible to see if it's a boy or a girl.
Maybe this week you can start feeling the movement of the baby, like tickles in your belly. Now the baby is six times heavier than a month ago. It will double in size from now on. Baby's legs are now larger than the arms and can coordinate the movements.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 17:

The baby can do facial gestures. The skin of the baby is starting to grow body hair and can taste the amniotic liquid. Hips and muscles are completely formed.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 18:

A line crosses your belly from the pelvis to the belly button, it's called sunrise line.
The baby has hair on its head. The ears develop and the baby can hear outside noises. You will feel the baby move when there is a sudden noise. The babie's bones are forming quickly.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 19:

The baby skin is nicer and less wrinkly, because it's being filled with body fat. The baby moves a lot and is about 23 cm. From week 17 to 20 you'll feel the baby moving for the first time. The nervous system is now a lot more sophisticated and can move more coordinately. The lungs keep growing and developing. Baby's heart beats faster and stronger everyday. The baby spends most of the time sleeping, but when it is awake it doesn't stop moving around.
Now the mother can feel some back pains because of the pressure of the belly.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 20:

It's possible that your sugar level decreases, so it's convenient to eat little and often, taking a bit of fruit or something else in your bag when you are going out for long. Baby's body is now covered with body hair and the head hair and eye brows are totally visible. Now, the baby's body skin is totally protected and isolated from the amniotic fluid with a thick substance called vernix caseosa.
At this stage the ultrasound could reveal any anatomic or morphologic problem with the baby.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 21

Your uterus will stretch up to your belly button, so say goodbye to your waist, and because of the skin stretching your belly might be itchy.

The baby is conscious about the surrounding environment, and your voice and your caresses of your belly will calm the baby. The eyes are close but the iris is getting its final color.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 23

You have probably put on 2 or 3 kilos, so you feel a bit heavy and tired, rest with your feet up. Every three hours the amniotic liquid is renewed.
The baby's nostrils are opening. The fine hair that covers the baby's body is getting a bit darker. Now the head is in proportion to the rest of the body.
Your baby is now exactly the same as when it will be born, just smaller and thinner.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 24

Now the baby develops a sleeping timetable, so sometimes you'll feel a lot of movements and other times when the baby sleeps, you won't feel anything.
It's not unusual that pregnant womens breasts secrete some milk, preparing for the breast feeding period.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 25

The baby's kicks are more intense, and moves especially when you are resting.
Look after your skin well, these are the times when stretch marks will appear.
Now the baby can recognize your voice and the fathers's voice. Experts say that singing to the baby is really beneficial. If your baby is a boy, this week the testicles would have descend to the scrotum. The baby practices breathing in and out the amniotic fluid. At the moment, the oxygen is coming through the placenta, and this sometimes will produce hiccups, you can feel it with the rhytmic movements.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 26

It's possible you will feel the Braxton Hicks contractions. Your body is training for the moment of giving birth. Sometimes you'll have the impression of falling on your front because of the weight in your belly.
Your baby keeps growing everyday, 1 centimeter a week. Now looks like a new born. The baby practices eating by sucking its finger, and drinking amniotic liquid. It is practicing and perfecting its technique.
The baby's body is developing a fat layer in the skin to control the body temperature.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 27

Your bladder gets thinner because of the pressure. You will feel your belly hard and tense.
The baby has got its eyes open, and the heart beat is between 120 and 140 per minute.
Finally the baby is able to breathe on its on. The eyes are sensitive to the light. The skin is getting smoother because of the layer of fat underneath.
Now the baby practices sucking so when time come it will be able to suck the milk.
