Pregnancy week by week- Week 0 -3:
Seven
days after the fertilisation of the egg, your body sends chemical
signals to stop the menstruation. In week 3 you will start missing
the menstruation and sometimes start getting nausea.
Thousands of sperm will try to fertilize the egg, but only one will
do it. It will the origins of your child. The egg would travel down
from Fallopian Tubes. Seven days after, it will be implanted in
the Uterus wall. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 4:
A
pregnancy test can detect you are pregnant 12 days after fertilisation.
At this stage your pregnancy is confirmed. You should start choosing
a gynecologist and planning your first pregnancy appointment to
visit the doctor
14 days after fertilisation the embryo will form as a single person.
Up to that moment the cell could have divided into several embryos.
The baby has adopted a rounded shape and the heart is beating. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 5:
You
might be experiencing the first pregnancy symptoms, like a strong
sense of smell, morning sickness... Craving for some particularl
type of food, and at this stage of pregnancy you will start feeling
extremely tired.
Your baby is floating happily in the amniotic fluid, attached to the umbilical cord.
A this time your baby is approximately 7 mm long, about as long
as a rice grain. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 6:
Most
women now feel the morning sickness and other strong pregnancy symptoms,
caused by the hormonal revolution going on in her body, which tends
to make her feel a bit more cranky.
The embryo has now the power to push the blood around his/her little body.
The baby is developing the face. Two things will appear into the
sides of the head - they will become the ears. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 7:
Some food will give strong stomach acid, so try to avoid them. You feel tired all the time but not fancying any tea or coffee, just rest.
Your baby is changing the properties of its body, everything starts
to get longer and his/her position in the uterus changes. The head
and the feet of the baby are already formed.
Eyes, kidneys and lungs are developing fast. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 8:
In this stage
of the pregnancy your blood volume has increased by 40 %. Your
uterus is now the size of an orange. Your hormones are all over
the place.
Your baby is now 24 mm, four times bigger than a month ago. Now
the complete shape of the face appears. The two sides of his/her
head are growing. The embryo is now growing quickly.

Pregnancy week by week - Week 9:
Your clothes are tights around your waist. You feel your breast and your waist now growing.
Your baby now has toes!
Now the baby's liver produces red blood cells which circulate around
the body because of the heart beat. The skin of the embryo is getting
thicker and less transparent. Now the head is half of the total
body length. The baby has kidneys and can urinate. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 10:
In this stage
of the pregnancy the mother's weight has increased between 900 and
1800g. So it's time to start hydrating the skin. You are already
in the first quarter of your pregnancy, very soon the risk of abortion
will be over.
The baby has developed a vagina if it's girl or a penis if it's a boy. Now the face of the baby is almost completely formed. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 11
The
nausea and morning sickness continue but soon it will be over. By
now you have probably put on 10% of the total weight you will gain
in the pregnancy.
The baby already has vocal cords, even when they are not being used.
And now it is also practicing breathing through the lungs. |
Pregnancy week by week - Week 12
At this stage
of the pregnancy it is common to suffer from constipation. A high
fibre diet, vegetable and fruits are recommended.
The uterus is now too big to stay in the pelvis area, so starts
pushing up.
The embryo shows activity, but is still too small to move inside
the uterus. Now the baby will weigh about 14g and has a length of
about 8 cm. Now it's possible to visualize the movement of the hands
and feet in the ultrasound tests. |
